Roman emperors, Arab scholars, and early travelers have all been drawn
to the enchanting land that existed along the Nile River in Egypt. The
astounding architecture, art, technology, ancient calligraphy, and
literature has attracted researchers from all over the world. This book
focuses on four aspects of Egyptian culture: a brief but thorough
commentary on Egypt's history, contemporary culture, beliefs, and food
in a historical and present perspective. It also introduces some
highlights of this fascinating country, although it is hard to do
justice to all of them. Some information about demographics and
festivals is also given. The main focus of the study, however, is on
food and cooking, from staple dishes to more complex dishes, drinks,
recipes, techniques to preserve food, and sample menus. This manuscript
provides a brief glimpse into Egypt's culture, beliefs, and food.
