Between 1850 and 1859, Albany, New York printer Joel Munsell published
ten volumes of The Annals of Albany. Each of these volumes were
compendiums of historical information he collected on the history of
Albany, New York and combined them, in no apparent order or category,
into an annual publication for a decade. He collected scraps from
newspapers, genealogy, deaths, religion, public and private
organizations, maps, illustrations, and included already published
pamphlets and other material connected with the history, ancient or
modern, of Albany. This collection represents material he collected and
published more than 170 years ago. This is the facsimile edition of
Volume One with annotations and additions supplied by the editor.
