In distance education, the learner works alone or in group and guided by
study materials arranged by faculty members in a location apart from
students, who have the opportunity to communicate with an instructor
with the aid of range of media. Quality of distance education requires
careful attention to learning design, effective faculty training, and
organizational commitment to adequate program support, selection of
appropriate delivery, technology and focus on students learning
outcomes. Thus, this book shows the depth evaluation of the status of
distance education program with a comparative analysis on quality issues
between government and private higher education institutions at Mettu
